Ian came home from a birthday party a couple of Saturdays ago, plopped down on a chair in the kitchen, and said, "Mom. Dad. I just experienced the most delicious treat ever created!" Now, we all know Ian doesn't eat cake, ice cream, cookies, candy (all things usually served at birthday parties). What had been served at this particular birthday party to create such excitement in my usually unexcitable boy?
Ian continued, "They served bacon wrapped kielbasa! And, it was covered with delicious brown sugar! It was seriously the best treat EVER!! You have to get the recipe!"
A gigantic thank you for this recipe to Tricia who literally made Ian's life with this Bacon Wrapped Kielbasa, a.k.a. Candy for a Carnivore. These little babies are truly as delicious as Ian described!
Bacon Wrapped Kielbasa
1 lb. bacon halved
2 1-lb Kielbasa (sliced into 1/2 inch thick slices)
regular size bottle of Chili sauce
1 cup grape jelly
1 cup brown sugar
Wrap 1/2 slice of bacon around each Kielbasa slice. Secure with a toothpick. Place them in un greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, mix remaining ingredients together; pour over top of partially cooked meats. Bake for an additional hour.
