We have lived for 7 years now with a hot kitchen. The heat does not come from our oven. It comes from the sun that beats on the back of our house from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Most of the family has sweat dripping down their faces during dinnertime. Well, that's an exaggeration -- but it is NOT comfortable!
Our FABULOUS friend and neighbor just finished framing and contracting out some work for a patio cover for the back of our home. He got all of the work completed in around a week! We are so happy with his work.
We LOVE it and are enjoying sweatfree dinners! Now, all we need is the patio!

So that's what all the tools and construction materials were for! Until I saw Aaron this morning, I wondered if you were just hiding his body. (Or the kids you disowned today... :O ) It looks great! It will probably pay for itself in air conditioning savings!

I think it looks amazing, and I agree that your neighbor/friend is fabulous! :) I'll have to come and see it in person to get the full effect, and how nice to have a cool kitchen!!!

We in the Ornithology department want to congratulate you on the investment in your home. I would hope that you might invest in birdfeeders and bird houses to compliment your investment. We always appreciated those in the Utah area who are willing to feed the seagulls in the dead of winter.
Livingston is really handy in the carpentry department and if I would have known would have had him give you an estimate on your patio. Unfortunately, when he built our patio he attempted to used concrete for the roof and the vinyl roofing for the floor. Needless to say there was a loud crash about 2 a.m. the morning he finished the project.
